Rates of Bollywood Stars Per Minute
John-Bipasha: If you ever thought of a glamorous business partnership, this is the one. The two together come at a discounted price! The duo charge Rs 3.33 lakh for every minute they make an appearance. The same however does not hold true for another Bollywood couple - Saif-Kareena. There is no business pairing here. If you want to see them together - your only option is a private party the two might have been invited to. As for the individual rates... Bebo charges Rs 1.25 lakh per minute.
Salman Khan: The one actor who makes sure that his presence at every occasion is as stately as his cult-status, is the Bollywood hunk - Salman Khan. The handsome Khan refuses to make an appearance unless and until the host has shelled out a whopping Rs 4 lakh for every minute Salman decides to grace the event. It doesn't stop here. For anyone who is loaded enough to have Salman as his paid guest, has to make sure that the flamboyant Khan pockets a cool Rs 1 cr which is over and above his rate per minute.
Hrithik Roshan: If you thought that having Salman at any party is a costly affair, here's another shocker. The actor who demands more moolah than even Salman is the suave and charming Hrithik Roshan. He charges Rs 4.25 lakh per minute and has to be guaranteed a cool Rs 1.25 crore as the appearance money. And yes...this is the highest among all the Bollywood stars. This was the big league ...if you think that Bollywood stars are simply unaffordable, then the following list offers respite.
The 'affordable' ones: These stars are the 'affordable' ones. They might not be a part of B-town's A-league, but they certainly don't come dirt cheap either. In the Rs 50,000 per minute bracket are a bevy of hotties - Amrita Rao, Amisha Patel, Manisha Koirala. Then there are the likes of Dino Morea, Neha Dhupia, Minnisha Lamba, Mughdha Godse who are regulars on the party circuit. Not surprisingly though - their asking rate...a comparatively cheaper Rs 10,000 per minute!

Akshay is torch bearer of 2010 Olympics
Akshay's love for sports is a well known fact; he was recently awarded the highest Japanese honour of 'Katana' at his first international karate championship. Not only that, he has also shot for 'Seven Deadly Sins' for the National Geographic channel recently. This one would be another feather in his cap, as only 15 international celebrities have been invited to Canada to participate in carrying the torch.
The games will be held from January 30 to February 14, 2010. Akshay will be presented the torch on November 16 by the Canadian Prime Minister Steven Harper, in Mumbai. At a high power exclusive lunch organised for 50 CEO's of respected tourism companies, the PM will be introducing Akshay as the sole torch bearer from India.
It's not only an honour for Akshay but an hour for our film industry and most importantly for our country. Kudos to Akshay!

No relief for Bhandarkar in Preeti Jain rape case
The Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate while rejecting the adverse report by police said it would conduct an inquiry into the case and record Jain's statement on December 22.
The court observed that Bhandarkar need not be arrested in the case. The police had submitted the 'B' Summary report stating that Jain's complaint is false and lacks evidence.
In July 2004, Jain had lodged a complaint alleging that Bhandarkar had raped her several times between 1999 and 2004 under the pretext of marrying her and casting her as actress in his movies.
"The court's order rejecting the report is a stamp on the genuineness of my case," Jain told reporters outside the court. "The magistrate will now look into the evidences of the case," Jain's lawyer Sushan Kunjuraman said.
Three-time National Award-winning Bhandarkar is known for realistic movies like "Chandni Bar", "Page 3" and "Traffic Signal". His latest movie "Jail", starring Neil Nitin Mukesh and Mugdha Godse released last week.
Bhandarkar could not be reached for comments.

Akshay's film based on Bihari engineer's murder
Initially, the film was based on Priyan’s 1988 drama Vellanakalude Nadu. “Initially, Khatta Meetha was based on the road mafia and corruption in the construction business but at that point of time, it was entirely fictional.” It was Akshay who suggested that the film be contemporised by bringing in Pandey’s notorious death. Priyan says, “We brought in the whole story of the death of the honest road engineer in Bihar who was apparently killed by the corrupt road mafia when he threatened to expose their wrongdoings. We introduced Makrand’s character based on Yogendra Pandey and Akshay as the friend and colleague who uncovers the bloody trail.”
Priyan and Akshay have hit on a new formula to counter the charge of making mindless comedies. Khatta Meetha being shot in dusty Satara at the moment blends satire with a social message. Priyan adds, “I think I’ll be doing this kind of a mixture of social comment and satire more often. In Khatta Meetha we took up a very serious and disturbing crime situation in Bihar but treated it lightly. No one wants to watch grim films anymore. We just have to find a way of letting the audience know what’s actually going on in the world while transporting them into a make-believe world at the same time.”
Akshay Kumar went out of his way to complete this film. “We did it in 90 days at a stretch. Akshay believes we’ve been able to do something important here. The message comes through the comedy,” said Priyan.

Abhishek plays conman in 'Special Chabbis' Film
According to sources, Neeraj finalised Abhishek for the role because he is from Uttar Pradesh. Although no one knows if Mohan Singh was the main conman’s real name, he apparently hailed from UP and was in his mid-30s. Abhishek was an obvious choice as he too has a UP lineage and belongs to the same age group. Abhishek loved Neeraj’s A Wednesday and was happy to be part of Special Chabbis.
Since the role is based on a real life character, Abhishek needs to prepare for his role in terms of speech and body language.
Neeraj confirmed the news and said, “I can’t deny that Abhishek is on board but I want to get some other key members of the cast in place before I make a formal announcement. The film requires 26 actors and I want to make sure all of them are just right for their part. I will start the project in mid-2010. Before that I am producing a film titled 3 Large 1 Small under my banner Friday Filmworks. It’s the story of a somewhat young man who looks back on his life. I’m currently hunting for a director and a main lead.”
Meanwhile, there’s bad news for those waiting for Neeraj to start the prequel to A Wednesday. After the Tamil remake of A Wednesday (Unnaipol Oruvan), Neeraj has decided to shelve the earlier planned prequel. “I’ve to admit the remake (Unnaipol Oruvan) makes my plans to make a prequel to A Wednesday redundant now. I think we need to move on from A Wednesday. That’s what Special Chabbis gives me a chance to do,” said Neeraj.

Sanjay Dutt walks out of 'Faltu' film
Our source said, “Sanjay and Vashu have always been on very good terms. Sanjay even did an item number without charging any money in Kal Kissne Dekha. Sanjay agreed to star in Faltu only because it was supposed to be the re-launch film for his close friend and manager Dharam Oberoi’s daughter, Neha, who had earlier starred in the tanked Woodstock Villa opposite Sikandar Kher. But while Sanjay was busy promoting All The Best, Vashu went ahead and signed on the current Miss India-World Pooja Chopra, and unceremoniously dropped Neha from his film. Sanjay was furious when he got to know about this and told Vashu that since he had failed to keep his word, he too won’t keep his promise. Vashu is now trying to get Anil Kapoor to replace Sanjay.”
Vashu said, “I had not even signed Sanju as the script is not ready yet. Sanju has to read the script and then decide. I have always maintained that he is a friend and has helped us with Kal Kissne Dekha. We will finalise everything only when the script is ready.” Sanjay’s spokesperson confirmed that he is no longer part of Vashu’s film. He said cautiously, “Sanju opted out of the film due to date problems.”

Ayesha Takia lashes out at Raj Thackeray
Deeply hurt and shocked by the aggressive behavior of MNS with Abu Azmi, daughter-in-law Ayesha Takia Azmi lashed out on MNS whole and soul Raj Thackeray and his party. “I am shocked and disgusted by the behaviour of Raj Thackeray and his people. The way they behaved with Abu Azmi during today’s swearing in was really unbelievable and disgusting. How can we ever feel safe in a place where gundas are allowed to behave as they want?”
Reacting on the restriction on language she says, “I love this city and we all do so how does it matter if we say Bombay or Mumbai? My grandfather was Marathi and my granny is British, my father Gujrati and my husband Muslim. I have always been cosmopolitan and don’t see why in this day and age it matters who belongs to what language.”
Criticizing language war Ayesha said, “Hindi Marathi English and any of our languages are allowed while taking the oath. We live in love and respect each other irrespective of cast and language. So why are gundas like Raj Thackeray and others allowed to break and kill our peace?”
Being a responsible citizen she requests chief minister and other parties to take action again this. “Our other respected leaders including the chief minister and other parties must unite and kick out Raj Thackeray and MNS. Law must take action. If action isn’t taken then this will be the beginning of breaking the peace!” She signs off.

Inside story about Shilpa Shetty's wedding plans
That just about sets the tone for the elaborate yet exclusive Shilpa-Raj Kundra marriage on November 22 where, according to Shilpa's close buddy, "Tarun Tahiliani has designed a wedding outfit that no bride in Bollywood or outside has ever worn before."
The guest list for the November 22 wedding is restricted to Shilpa and Raj's family only. Raj's parents and sister are expected any moment from London. His relatives from Ludhiana and Amritsar are expected to arrive closer to the wedding.
The wedding will be conducted fully in the Bunt tradition, according the Mangalorean community that the Shettys belong to.
Says Shilpa's close friend, "Shilpa's mom consulted the astrological documents and found that the next auspicious date was not before April 2010. Shilpa's first response was, 'Not without my sister.' But now that Shamita is well on the way out of 'Bigg Boss', Shilpa doesn't mind the rush, though she would be shooting until the very last moment for the Indo-Chinese production Desire in Hyderabad," says a very close friend of the Shettys.
The last thing Shilpa wants to do at the moment is to work. "But a commitment is a commitment," says Shilpa's friend.

Ajab In Overdrive Jail Starts Poorly
The morning shows at multiplexes are normally a bit slow on the first day but Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani came out of the traps on fire with 75% collections. The reports are mixed with the youth likely to take to it while the other segments may not like it. But even still the film is a sure shot as the film does not have huge costs and the opening is like a big budget star studded film.
Jail got sidelined in the wake of Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani and opened to around 25-30% collections. The film will have to improve its performance over the weekend and is likely to do its best business in Mumbai circuit.

Patiala House, which stars Akshay Kumar and Anushka Sharma along with the evergreen jodi of Rishi Kapoor and Dimple Kapadia, tells the story of a joint family set in South hall, London. Kalon family has been living for the last four generations in South hall and its patriarch (played by Rishi Kapoor) has created his own fiefdom in Patiala House. The entire concept of the film has been conceived by Rahul Nanda, son of famed writer and novelist Gulshan Nanda."
Shooting of the film commences in December this year and the film is slated to release in Diwali 2010.

Manisha Koirala in Bhansali's next
The pivotal part in Bhansali’s production My Friend Pinto, directed by Raghav Dar, has finally come her way. Says Manisha, “I’ve been dividing my time between Mumbai and the US, where things are going well between Chris and me. I also miss my home country Nepal and would like to spend some time there too but cinema will always remain my primary passion. After I did my friend Deepti Naval’s film Do Paise Ki Dhoop Char Aane Ki Baarish I’m hungry for challenging roles. None of those two-songs five-scene roles.” Manisha and Bhansali met recently and she was on for a pivotal role with Pratik Babbar whose mom Smita Patil has always been one of her favourite actresses. Manisha is also on the verge of signing films with Yash Raj Films and Raj Kumar Santoshi with whom she had earlier worked in Lajja.
Says Manisha, “I’ll be working with soon with Mr Chopra and Mr Santoshi. Actually when I met them, I had lost a lot of weight. But now after my return from the US, I’ve gained some weight. I’m going to lose the extra kilos and then make a public appearance again. So you see, cinema and I can’t be separated. I’m looking forward to a fresh start.”

People Who Made SRK
1.Naresh: The story goes back to 1992 when Shah Rukh Khan was working on Baazigar and he was a very new name in the industry. When it came to designing his clothes in the film, the then ruling fashion designers refused to design for him. Left in a lurch, Shah Rukh sourced his clothes from a small shop at Hill Road in Bandra from a man called Naresh. And since then his entire personal wardrobe has been designed by Naresh. Goes on to speak about his loyalty towards true friends!
2.Aziz Mirza: Aziz Mirza who had known Shah Rukh Khan since their Circus days on television decided to start a film with SRK. Mirza had the courage to start as a director with someone new and both complimented each other pretty well. Ever since then till Chalte Chalte the duo has worked with each other in every film including Yes Boss and Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani .
3. Juhi Chawla: When actresses refused to work opposite new boy Shah Rukh Khan, Juhi Chawla was willing enough to accept Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman . Ever since then the trio of SRK, Juhi Chawla and Aziz Mirza teamed up for many more films like Yes Boss and Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani . The trio even floated a production company called Dreamz Unlimited. Juhi happens to be the closest pal to SRK and has been alongside him in films, family affairs and even IPL matches.
4. Anwar: Anwar was Shah Rukh’s secretary for several years until he passed away some years back at a very young age. Anwar was very close to SRK and almost like a family member. Whenever Shah Rukh was on his foreign schedules, he would get shoes of international brands like K Swiss, something which Anwar loved. After his sad demise, Shah Rukh has been taking care of his family.
5. Subodh: Subodh is said to be Shah Rukh’s Man Friday. There was this case when a journalist met with an accident and was in a critical condition. His fiancĂ©e who also was a media person checked with Subodh who connected her with Shah Rukh. And Khan immediately turned up for help. Subodh is said to be the connect between Shah Rukh Khan and the outer world.
6. Yash Chopra: Yash Chopra showed immense faith in Shah Rukh giving him an author-backed role in Darr . Post Darr , Shah Rukh has been an important part of almost every other Yash Raj film. Shah Rukh Khan once said that ‘Yash Chopra is not my godfather, he is my award father.’
7. Kajol: Kajol was another actress who was with Shah Rukh Khan from very early times. After Baazigar they teamed up several times in films like Karan Arjun, Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Ghum.
8. Gauri Khan: Last but not the least his wife Gauri Khan has been one of the biggest supports in Shah Rukh Khan’s life. The two knew each other since their college days when they were dating each other. She stood by Shah Rukh when he came to Mumbai and was struggling for making his entry into the film industry. Though she always stayed behind the screen, the two make a very strong couple in Bollywood in times when marriage has become the most fragile relationship.

Shatrughan Sinha shaves off his moustache for RGV's Rakta Charitra
The tragic relinquishment of the trademark Shotgun mouche came after weeks of persuasion.
"Initially I was taken aback by Ramu's request. I've never taken my moustache off in my entire life except once, and that was when I was still a student at the Film & Television Institute Of India. I wanted to experiment with my looks. My father had gone livid. 'How could you shave off your moustache when both your parents are still alive?' he had shouted at me. I had vowed never to touch my moustache, and I never did. Now of course both Baba and Maa are gone..."
Ram Gopal Varma had to cross many hurdles before he could get Shatrughan Sinha to shave off the moustache to play N T Rama Rao.
Chortles the voluble Sinha, "Besides my own inhibitions, my wife had to be manaoed. But the final decision was left to my daughter. After she relented I agreed on Saturday. Ramu was virtually standing behind me with a razor. I understand his anxiety. To play N.T. Rama Rao I had to be clean-shaven."
Shatrughan Sinha will also be doing away with his trademark mannerisms and dialogue delivery to play NTR. "None of the flamboyant playing to the galleries. I'm far more restrained here."
Ironically, the clean-shaven Vivek Oberoi has grown a moustache for Rakta Charitra. There's much father-son bonding happening between Shatrughan Sinha and Vivek Oberoi in Hyderabad.
Says Shatrughan, "What I really like about Vivek is that he truly loves and respects his parents. I completely understand that. For the first time, Ramu is working with the Shatrughan-Vivek jodi. We've seen what he can do with the Amitabh-Abhishek pair. Now just see what we do."

Working Hard For My Name is Khan
What is wet, a wee-bit-wrinkled and a superstar? Not ‘Jumbo’ like we all thought; but our very own Shah Rukh Khan.
At a set put up in Film City for My Name Is Khan, SRK was required to stay in neck-deep water for two days — in and out — and you know how the skin becomes when you’ve stayed in water for too long.
A li’l bit wrinkly. But SRK didn’t complain one bit. In fact, he was soon being called Mr Mermaid (in whispers, of course) around the sets. And even if he heard, he couldn’t get madder than a ‘wet’ hen (pun unintended); so, he laughed along with the unit at his watery get-up.
