3 Idiots Trailer

Aamir Khan unhappy with '3 Idiots'?

There’s tension brewing between the formidable Aamir Khan and his 3 Idiots director Rajkumar Hirani. The root cause is none other than Aamir’s unassuming, but talented co-star Sharman Joshi.

Joshi who was last seen playing Aamir’s Delhi-campus buddy in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Rang De Basanti has walked away with the film, leaving poor Aamir less than happy. Aamir has asked Rajkumar Hirani to turn things around at the edit table. Whether the director complies with the demand remains to be seen.

In his defence, sources from the film’s crew say the tilt and imbalance between Aamir and Sharman’s role was not on the cards when the film was conceived.
Says the source, “It just happened. Aamir has no problem being part of an ensemble cast, or even playing a secondary part. If you remember Aamir made an entry in his production Taare Zameen Par at intermission point. Even in RDB, Siddharth had the most powerful role.”

So what seems to be the problem? Continues the source, “Sharman’s role and performance have turned to be quite different from the way Aamir had perceived it. Mind you, he has no problems with Sharman walking away with the film.” And no one is sure how the film tilted in Sharman’s favour.

Now when the much-awaited film is less than two months from release, Rajkumar Hirani wants no friction within his team.

John's 1-800 Love in July 2010

1-800-LOVE Abbas Tyrewala’s next film after Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na is nearly complete, but you will se no sign of it till July 2010. And that’s because Abbas wants to make sure that the magic of the lucky July week that worked with Jaane Tu... holds true for 1-800-LOVE too. Jaane Tu was released in July last year and was a sensational success. Abbas now plans to release all his films in July and is convinced that they’ll work.

Surprisingly, 1-800-LOVE’s producer is willing to bear the mounting costs of the post-production delay. “I guess I’m lucky,” Abbas says. “Even though the shoot is done and there’s just one song left, my producer is with me in the decision to release the film in the same week as Jaane Tu... Actually, I would love to release 1-800-LOVE on July 4, the same date as Jaane Tu... but it isn’t a Friday.”

They are to choose between July 2 and 9, 2010, as the release date. “And if I had my way, I would release all my films in the same week, depending on how accommodating my producers are in the future.”

And as we wonder if we can pass this off as superstition, Abbas protests, “Look, even otherwise, the first quarter of 2010 is clogged with exams and other stuff. I would rather release my films when schools and colleges are shut because they are the audience for all my films.”

Aladin Review

In accordance with a prominent line from the film “ Buri aadat badal daalo, Aladin ko maar daalo ”, director Sujoy Ghosh kinda kills the magic of the legendary fairy tale character in his contemporary adaptation of the Arabian Nights account. Certainly the inspiration is interesting but the execution tends to become formulaic. Continue...............

Review of London Dreams

Here’s a movie that derives its basic plot from an American film (the Oscar winning Amadeus ), which was based on the rivalry between an Italian (Salieri) and a German (Mozart) composer. Served with Indian sentiments, it’s named London Dreams . Nevertheless, this globalization of cinema clicks for its worldly charm.
